RAOB Lite Program

The new RAOB Lite Program is an introductory version of RAOB designed to fit limited budgets while still providing the essential functionality necessary for good sounding analyses. The Lite version contains the WMO and BUFKIT data decoders.

BASIC Program Enhancements

ADDED:
- New Scanner display screen.
- UVW wind component display screen.
- Program Password option.
- Mixing Height (PBL) is now a Toolbar display option.
- New parameters available for data listing & displays:
  - Fire Danger index.
  - Chandler Burning index.
  - Waterspout index.
  - Cloud ceiling height.
IMPROVED:
- RAOB CSV decoder now accepts vertical wind (W) data.
- Mixing heights & Stability calculations now use Virtual temperatures.
- Two columns of data parameters can be listed on widescreens.

BINARY DATA DECODERS Module Enhancements (optional)

IMPROVED:
- GRIBv1 decoder for Quasi-rectangular grid formats.
- GRIBv1 decoder for world-wide Grid#3 formats.
- netCDF decoder for common European formats.

ANALYTIC Module Enhancements (optional)

ADDED:
- New Fire-Weather & Air-Quality display screen.
- Thermogram display on the Winter Weather screen.
- Hail / No-Hail nomogram on the Severe Weather screen.
- Widescreen “analyses box” on the SkewT diagrams.
- AutoMerge feature with the Batch & Timer functions - Automatic merging of two soundings.
IMPROVED:
- Exports now include T1 & T2 “wind direction” gusts.
- Batch & Timer functions now include:
  - “Last” sounding option for multi-sounding files.
  - WMO number specification during batch scripting.

CROSS-SECTION Module Enhancements (optional)

STANDARD Module Additions:
- Option to expand diagrams when using widescreen displays.
- Option to manually specify upper pressure level of diagram.
- Option to merge Y-axes with diagram walls; truncates wind barbs.
- Ability to edit on-screen diagram titles.
- Ability to plot “sounding data” onto the section diagram.
- New Toolbar plot options:
  - Virtual Potential Temperature.
  - Vertical wind (W) components.
- New Meteogram options:
  - Tc, MVV, Downrush temp, Fog-point, Surface temp, LLWS.
  - Mean surface temp, Ceiling, Ventilation index, Haines index.
  - Mixing height (PBL), Surface wind, T1 gust, Waterspout index.
  - Mean surface RH%, Surface-750 mb RH%, Thickness data.
ADVANCED Module Additions:
- Rubber-band Zoom function; using CTRL-click.
- Option to individually specify which panels display wind plots.
- Gradient Editor option to “auto-balance” data ranges.
- Option to place the Colorbar scale horizontally or vertically.

HODOGRAPH & INTERACTIVE Module Enhancements (optional)

Added an option to compare (overlay) two hodographs.
Added right-side of diagram Hodograph display option on widescreens.
Added Up/Down colored vertical wind (W) plots on Hodographs.

SOUNDINGRAM Module Enhancements (optional)

ADDED:
- New Scanner display screen.
- New Toolbar analyses plot options:
  - Virtual potential temperature
  - Vertical wind (W) component.
  - Option to plot Ozone in “ppb” units.

RADIOMETRICS (RDX) DATA DECODER Enhancements (optional)

Added option to override GPS derived elevations.
Added option to automatically pre-select a Scan Mode.

SODAR/LIDAR DECODERS Enhancements (optional)

(previously designated the Acoustic Data Decoder module)

Added ASC/CSV and ASC/TBL decoders.
Added ability to process vertical wind (W) component data.

SPECIAL DATA DECODERS Module Enhancements (optional)

ADDED:
- ACTA decoder.
- Generic high-density single-sounding file decoder.
- German weather service decoder.
- ENSCI decoder – for ozone data.
